One-quarter of Israelis, 2,306,000 people, live in poverty, says the 2019 Alternative Poverty Report of the "Latet" organization, which provides basic needs for populations living in poverty and food insecurity.
The report also showed that the percentage of Israelis living below the poverty line was down by a percentage point from last year.
The report also found that about 80% of families supported by aid organizations have at least one income provider, and 20% have two or more income providers.
The percentage of poor children also fell slightly by about two percent compared to last year. According to the report, 1,007,000 children are currently living in poverty.
