Israeli soldiers to assist police in enforcing coronavirus restrictions

The government on Monday approved the request of Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan to send 700 IDF soldiers to help Israel Police enforce government restrictions meant to fight coronavirus. The order set to take effect Tuesday.
The soldiers will not be carrying weapons and will be patrolling public spaces along with the local police forces to ensure that the new restrictions are maintained.
The number of soldiers will increase as the measures tighten.
