For second day in a row, Israel sees over 2,000 new cases of coronavirus

After reporting record high daily virus diagnoses, Health Ministry continues to issue worrying figures about the spread of the virus across the nation; 12 more Israelis succumb to COVID-19

The Health Ministry reported Wednesday morning that 2,085 Israelis have tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours as daily virus diagnoses cross 2,000 for the second day in a row.

  • Health authorities conducted 26,000 coronavirus tests on Tuesday – almost 8% of which yielded a positive result. Since midnight, 288 health authorities have confirmed 288 cases of coronavirus.

    There are currently 859 patients hospitalized across the country, 416 are in serious condition and 109 of them receive respiratory assistance from ventilators.
    Twelve Israelis have succumbed to complications of COVID-19, the illness caused by coronavirus, raising the country's virus-related fatalities to 957.
    On Tuesday, the Health Ministry reported a record high of daily diagnoses with 2,183 new cases.
    Since the onset of the pandemic in the country, 119,265 people have contracted the virus in Israel.

    Jerusalem has reported the highest number of new virus infections over the past seven days, with 1,307 diagnoses, followed by Bnei Brak with 533, Ashdod with 428, Modi'in Illit with 268 and Tel Aviv with 260 cases.
