The Health Ministry reported Tuesday evening that 2,966 new coronavirus cases have been diagnosed since midnight.
The death toll since the start of the pandemic rose to 5,435.
Out of 55,047 patients battling the virus, 963 are in serious condition, with 297 connected to ventilators.
