Gantz okays campaign medal for soldiers who served during South Lebanon occupation

Defense Minister Benny Gantz announced Wednesday that he approves a campaign medal to be awarded for IDF soldiers who served during Israel's 18-year occupation of South Lebanon.
Gantz's approval was made following recommendations for such a decoration by IDF chief of staff Aviv Kochavi and former IDF chief Shaul Mofaz.
"As the last soldier to leave Lebanon and as the defense minister, I feel great duty and privilege to authorize the awarding of this medal," Gantz said in a statement.
Final approval still pending from ministerial committee.
