Likud MK Gideon Sa'ar announced Tuesday evening he was leaving the ruling party to launch a new political movement and run for prime minister against incumbent Benjamin Netanyahu.
"Likud was my political home, but it has been changing and fast. The movement has become a tool to serve the interests of the man standing at its helm," Sa'ar said. "I feel ready and I am confident in my ability to march the country into the future. The order of the day is to replace the Netanyahu regime."
Sa'ar also said he will resign from his post as a member of parliament on Wednesday.
