Ahead of the Saturday protest in Tel Aviv's Rabin Square, the organizers of the event issued a joint statement stating that the protest is of an "economic and apolitical nature."
"The protest is meant to express the enormous distress and cross-sectoral protest," said the organizers in the statement.
"It is to express the helplessness of a very large public in Israeli society and as a sign of solidarity, more than 1,000 businesses throughout the country will close their doors at 20:00."
