NSC suggests Lag BaOmer lockdown, ministers object

|
The National Security Council (NSC) on Monday advised the government to impose a nationwide lockdown during the holiday of Lag BaOmer.
The NSC seeks to prevent mass gatherings around the holiday's traditional bonfires scattered throughout the country and also to prevent myriads of religious pilgrims from visiting the tomb of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, a leading 2nd-century sage, in the northern Israeli town of Meron
The government has yet to discuss the issue. Some ministers, including Interior Minister Aryeh Deri and Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, are expected to oppose the proposal.
