In an official statement, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas referred to the ongoing escalation in the West Bank and the two terrorist attacks that took place in Jerusalem, citing the U.S.'s "Deal of the Century" peace plan as a source of tension.
"The peace plan is what created this aura of escalation and tension by setting false facts about the region," said the statement.
"We have made it clear that any plan which will not realize the rights of the Palestinian people and will not strive for a just peace, will lead in the end to the escalation we see today.
"The Palestinian people and their leadership will fight any schemes and thwart them as we have done in the past, no matter the cost."
