Jerusalem reviewing new health directives ahead of marathon

Ynet|Updated:
Jerusalem Municipality said it is reviewing the Health Ministry’s latest directive in light of the international marathon it is due to host later this month, and will determine how and if it will proceed with the event.
The marathon is scheduled for March 20, with tens of thousands of people due to participate, including some 5,000 runners from abroad. Earlier the Health Ministry said that it would ban assemblies of more than 5,000 people for fear of hastening the spread of the new coronavirus.
“The Jerusalem Municipality announces that it is thoroughly examining the Health Ministry’s directives and will publish the consequences that it will have on the marathon shortly,” a spokesperson for the marathon said.
