AG to meet with Netanyahu about new U.N. ambassador

|
Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit is expected to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the coming days to discuss the appointment of a new U.N. ambassador for Israel, despite the current election season, sources involved in the matter said on Thursday.
Sources close to the prime minister said Netanyahu is pressuring Mandelblit to allow him the appointment, stating the possible candidate as of know is Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan.
In both previous election campaigns, Netanyahu's attempts to appoint a replacement for current U.N. Ambassador Danny Danon failed, who is due to end his appointment at the end of this month.
Netanyahu's officials said he contacted the Attorney General to examine the legal options at hand.
