Israel, Jordan strike border agreement under coronavirus

|
The government on Friday approved the Health Ministry's proposal to allow some 700 Jordanian laborers to work in the hotel industry in the southern resort town of Eilat.
All workers will be subjected to a coronavirus test upon their arrival in Israel after which they will be compelled to self-isolate in accordance with Health Ministry guidelines.
Jordanian diplomats will also be allowed to pass through the Taba and Jordan River land border crossings.
Anyone who leaves Israel through the Taba crossing for humanitarian or other essential needs will also be able to return through it.
The agreement was struck in recent weeks in a host of meetings between Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi.
