Ashkenazi summons French envoy over 'apartheid comments'

Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi on Thursday summoned France's ambassador to Israel after comments made by a senior French diplomat warning of Israel's "apartheid".
French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said Wednesday in an interview that Israel is on its way to becoming an apartheid state.
Ashkenazi apparently clarified to the ambassador the remarks are unacceptable, unfounded, removed from reality and Israel rejects them outright. "Israel expects its friends not to express themselves irresponsibly, which gives rise to extremist elements and anti-Israel activity," Ashkenazi said.
