Despite calls on Palestinian media to ascend to Jerusalem's Temple Mount and "protect Al-Aqsa Mosque from the filth of the [Israeli] occupation", Friday prayers at the site ended without any violent incidents and worshipers left the place peacefully.
The site's governing body said that over 60,000 Muslims arrived at the mosque to participate in the weekly sermon.
