New York state paid an Israeli engineer more than $69 million to supply hundreds of ventilators at an inflated price that never arrived, Buzzfeed reports.
According to the report, the White House task force on coronavirus directly recommended electrical engineer Yaron Oren-Pines to supply ventilators.
Oren-Pines demanded $47,656 per ventilator - at least three times the standard retail price - for 1,450 pieces of equipment and never delivered, the report said.
