In response, Shas party chairman Aryeh Deri lashed out at National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir: "It is unacceptable that what the police did not do on Kaplan Street against anarchists who sought to destroy the state, they are now doing to citizens crying out because they were turned into criminals just for studying Torah." Police spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Arye Doron told Ynet studio: "This is an illegal demonstration. Our role at this time is to allow vehicle traffic and do everything to open the road."
