Syrian President: 'We have no other option but to reach a security agreement with Israel'

Syrian President Ahmad al-Shra addressed the security arrangement expected to be signed with Israel in an interview with a Turkish newspaper quoted in Syria, saying "We are very close to reaching an agreement with Israel through American mediation." According to him, "The agreement may be signed in the coming days and will be similar to the 1974 agreement. Its meaning in no way represents normalization of relations or Syria joining the 'Abraham Accords.' Syria knows how to fight, but it no longer wants war. Syria has no other options but to reach a security agreement with Israel."
