David and Ariel Cunio, who were returned from Hamas captivity, said their condition is "improving slowly." In an interview with Argentine news site Todo Noticias, the brothers revealed they didn't know their family's situation while in captivity. David said the last thing he knew was that his twin brother's house had burned down and they were suffocating in the safe room. He added: "So when we were released and they asked for our parents' phone number, we were terrified by the thought that not everyone was alive. We knew something terrible happened on October 7, we knew the entire family was in the kibbutz." Ariel said he was certain David had been killed. David added that "they used psychological terror. They told me my wife had left me, that she was with someone else, and that my family wasn't speaking because they were dead."
