Findings from the IDF investigation into the battle at Peri Gan in the Eshkol Regional Council on October 7 focus on the bravery of members of the security response team from Shlomit, located a 10-minute drive from Peri Gan. The investigation reveals that although they were not directly attacked, members of the Shlomit security team heard the fighting on the radio and chose to go on their own initiative to help their neighbors. According to the IDF, the actions of these fighters, alongside additional forces, led to the retreat of the terrorists and prevented a much greater tragedy. Three members of the Shlomit security team and a police officer were killed in the battle: Chief Inspector Aviad Cohen, Chief Inspector Reuven Shishportish, Master Sergeant Bachor Suied and Chief Superintendent Avi Tsidon.
