The U.S. is considering a new initiative under which Israel would transfer Palestinian tax revenues that it refuses to pass to the Palestinian Authority to fund the Peace Council for Gaza's plan to rehabilitate the Strip. This was reported by five sources involved in the matter to Reuters news agency. Two Palestinian sources involved in the discussions said that according to the proposal, part of the tax revenues held by Israel—approximately 14 billion shekels—would be transferred to the transitional government expected to manage the Gaza Strip, while the remainder would be transferred to the Palestinian Authority, provided it undergoes reforms. The Trump administration has not yet made an official decision and has not submitted a request to Israel.
