Col. Tal Politis appointed as IDF attaché in Washington, Col. Barak Hiram to head operations division

|
IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir appointed Col. Tal Politis as the IDF attaché in Washington, with Politis set to be promoted to the rank of brigadier general. The IDF Spokesperson stated that "in accordance with the conclusion of the personnel discussion several months ago, Lt. Col. Barak Hiram will be appointed as head of the Operations Division and will assume his position in the coming days. The Chief of Staff called the officers and congratulated them. The appointments were approved by Defense Minister Israel Katz." Katz initially refused to approve Politis' appointment and insisted on appointing his military secretary, Col. Guy Markizano, to the position instead. Against this backdrop, other appointments were also delayed. Markizano was ultimately appointed as the prime minister's military secretary, replacing Roman Gofman.
