At Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva, controlled demolition has begun of the eastern section of the surgical building—the first structure built when the hospital opened in 1959, which was damaged by an Iranian missile during Operation 'Am Kelviya' in June 2025. "The demolition of the damaged building is a historic event in the life of the hospital, symbolizing the transition to a new phase of rehabilitation, construction and renewal, and ensuring an advanced and secure medical future for the residents of the Negev," the hospital said.
