Shas "strongly condemned" the detention of draft dodgers at Ben Gurion Airport this morning. The party stated that the Hasidic men were detained "following the blatant and unprecedented political intervention by Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara in the election process, through issuing orders for violent arrests of yeshiva students. This is despite the temporary law enacted to prevent political intervention during the election period. Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri instructed MK Yinon Azulay to engage with senior IDF officials, demanding the immediate release of the young men, without any further delay."
