Ruti Hazai, grandmother of Golani fighter Staff Sergeant Amit Cohen who fell in southern Gaza Strip, said in an interview with ynet studio that "He fought to join a combat unit, we got him out of detention so he could go there. He wouldn't agree to anywhere else, only Golani, he was obsessed." According to her, "He was an exemplary child. Yesterday morning the commander wrote to his mother that she has a golden son, one of the best fighters in the platoon. Who knew that three hours later he wouldn't be here." She added: "I pray that this will end. We lost my cousin in this cursed war. I wanted Amit to get out of there, his mother is a walking skeleton, hasn't slept for days and nights."
