Police arrested the No. 2 figure in the Bakri crime organization and a lawyer who was hiding in a safe house in southern Israel, as part of the "Money Maze" investigation into suspected money laundering and the transfer of vast sums from Nazareth municipality funds to members of the Bakri crime organization. As part of the case, 20 suspects were arrested, including crime boss Samir Bakri and former Nazareth Mayor Ali Salam. The lawyer arrested by police had fled when the affair broke. He was located over the weekend in a safe house in southern Israel. Yesterday, the No. 2 in the crime organization was arrested in Basmat Tab'un.
