Brigadier General Amit Saar, who headed the Research Division of Military Intelligence at the beginning of the war and retired from the IDF after being diagnosed with a malignant tumor, has died at the age of 47. Among his various roles, Saar served as assistant to the head of Military Intelligence, head of the counter-terrorism department in Southern Command intelligence, head of the Palestinian arena in the Research Division and as intelligence officer of the Southern Command, before his final position as head of the Research Division to which he was appointed in late 2020.
