More than 8 years after the affair: Identity of 'Ashkelon Hacker' revealed

|
The Tel Aviv District Court has permitted the publication of the name of the "Ashkelon Hacker" - Michael Kadar, now 27, as well as details about his medical condition. Kadar has autism and is dealing with a brain tumor. The details were permitted for publication at the request of his attorney, who is conducting legal proceedings in Norway to prevent his extradition to the United States, partly based on the claim that he has already been tried and served his sentence for the offenses for which the U.S. is requesting his extradition. The "Ashkelon Hacker" case became public in 2017 when the FBI submitted a request to the Cyber Unit of Lahav 433, indicating that an Israeli had managed to make thousands of calls under a false identity while hacking into computers of American institutions and making terrorist threats.
