Drivers began abandoning their vehicles on Highway 1, with some even driving against traffic, to escape the raging fires in the Jerusalem Hills. Fire and Rescue Services reported that nine people were evacuated from vehicles after becoming trapped in heavy smoke. Three cars and a truck are burning in the area, and several people have been affected by smoke inhalation.
