U.S. President Donald Trump addressed talks with Iran, saying at a fundraising conference that "they are negotiating, and they really want to reach a deal, but they are afraid to say it because they think their own people will kill them. They are also afraid that we will kill them." According to him, "There has never been a head of state who wanted a position less than to be the leader of Iran. We are listening to some of the things they are saying. We hear very clearly that they are saying, 'I don't want this.' They are told, 'We would like to make you the next supreme leader.' They respond, 'No, thank you. I don't want it.'"
