President Isaac Herzog spoke at a graduation ceremony at the National Defense College, where he said that "it's hard to dispute that the past two years have brought many disappointments regarding the trust many Israelis placed in the international community. Organizations and member states turned their backs on us. Human rights organizations ignored a filmed and documented massacre, but we must not frame the entire picture this way. Israel's great friends, led by the US, continue to stand by us at crucial junctures. We are in days of real tectonic shifts, where the international power structure and regional balance of power are being reshaped. Therefore, especially now, an isolationist approach that accepts hatred of Israel as a given, ignores the many diplomatic opportunities and seemingly gives up on the international community - would be a severe strategic mistake."
