Qatar and Pakistan: 'De-confliction cell' to be established with participation of Iran, US — and Lebanon

|
Qatar and Pakistan, which are mediating contacts between the US and Iran, issued a joint statement at the end of the first day of high-level talks that lasted 18 hours in Switzerland. It stated that "the talks were conducted in a positive and constructive atmosphere, encouraging progress was made, including the creation of a mechanism for further technical talks. The parties agreed to establish a high-level committee, which will provide political oversight of the mediation and the heads of the negotiating teams will report regularly to the committee, which agreed on a roadmap toward reaching a final agreement within 60 days." In addition, the parties agreed to create a "de-confliction cell between the parties and Lebanon, with the accompaniment of the mediators, to ensure commitment to ending military operations in Lebanon. Technical talks will continue throughout the rest of the week at the Bürgenstock resort on all issues."
