Indictment: Driver under influence of alcohol and drugs caused death of motorcyclist Assaf Yosipov in Tel Aviv

|
The prosecution filed an indictment in Traffic Court against Israel Lauha (63) from Rishon Lezion, who drove while intoxicated and caused the death of motorcyclist Assaf Yosipov (23) on Namir Road in Tel Aviv in March. According to the indictment, Lauha was driving while drunk and under the influence of drugs. When entering the intersection of Namir Road and KKL Boulevard, he turned sharply right from a lane designated for straight travel only, cutting across two lanes, thereby blocking Yosipov's path. As a result, the motorcyclist collided forcefully with the defendant's vehicle, was thrown onto the traffic island and crushed under his vehicle. The indictment charges Lauha with causing death by negligent driving and driving under the influence.
