U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hagerty announced that President Donald Trump has requested to send an additional 500 National Guard troops to Washington - following the shooting of two soldiers earlier near the White House. "This happened just steps away from the White House," Hagerty wrote, "and we cannot let this go unaddressed. That's why President Trump asked me - and I will request - to add 500 National Guard personnel to Washington D.C."
