The Tel Aviv District Court convicted Hanan Rabin, a producer of the "date rape drug" who was declared a fugitive, of fraud, dealing with poisons without a permit, customs violations and tax fraud. Rabin was convicted according to his confession and was sentenced to 33 months in prison, a suspended sentence and a fine of 25,000 shekels. The indictment against him was filed in 2005, when he fled the country and was arrested only two years later in Britain. He was released on bail and fled from Britain to Sri Lanka, where he stayed for nearly 18 years. He returned to Israel in December 2024 and was arrested at Ben Gurion Airport.
