The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommended that Israelis staying on the island of Crete avoid visiting areas affected by large fires and adhere to local authorities' guidelines. "The fire situation changes rapidly and it is recommended to follow the instructions of emergency authorities at fire centers in Greece and the Greek emergency center, by dialing 112 from any mobile phone, as well as to follow ongoing media reports on the development of the situation before arriving in fire areas," the statement said.
