American artist and DJ Afrika Bambaataa, whose real name was Lance Taylor, has died at 67 from cancer complications. Afrika Bambaataa was one of the chief architects of hip-hop culture in the 1970s and 1980s, and broke into international consciousness with the hit 'Planet Rock'. Starting in 2016, allegations were published against him by men who claimed he sexually assaulted them in their youth, but Bambaataa denied the accusations. In 2021, he was sued by a man who claimed that in his youth, Bambaataa sexually abused him and pimped him out to other men.
