Opposition Leader and former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded on Friday to an attack by former U.S. president Donald Trump directed at him and thanked the former American leader for his actions for Israel.
"I highly appreciate President Trump's great contribution to the State of Israel and its security," a statement from his office read.
"He also greatly appreciates the importance of the strong alliance between Israel and the United States and therefore it was important for him to congratulate the incoming U.S. President."
In two interviews he gave to the journalist Barak Ravid in April and July for his new book “Trump’s peace: The Abraham Accords and the Reshaping of the Middle East,” which is published in Israel on Sunday, the former president spoke about his loss to Joe Biden in 2020 presidential elections and his relationship with former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump, who fostered a close working relationship with Netanyahu, felt that Netanyahu "ran to greet Biden" after his electoral win, which Trump disputes, and even added "Fuck him."
