Israel's Tax Authority announced that customs unit inspectors at the Modi'in Parcel Mail Sorting Center uncovered 10 shipments from the United States of Fruit Roll-ups candy, which was popular in the 1980s and became a global craze due to a Tiktok trend. The shipments were destined for several different addresses in Israel and contained commercial quantities of the candy. The largest shipment contained 17 kg, about 1,200 individual items, and a total of about 157 kg was seized. Importing such quantities of a food product exceeds the legal definition of personal importation and is considered commercial - subject to the payment of taxes - upon receipt of approval from the Ministry of Health and other required approvals.
