Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, sent an urgent letter to the Security Council, demanding that it "strongly condemn the Palestinian Authority and the murderous attack in Eli, in which terrorists killed four Israelis, and demand that Abu Mazen (Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas) stop funding terrorism." Erdan called on the UN Security Council to "make a clear distinction between a democratic state that neutralizes terrorists, and those despicable terrorists who harm innocent citizens." According to Erdan's letter: "Such a comparison is false, immoral and constitutes an incentive and encouragement for terrorism." (Itamar Eichner)
