Michael (Mike) Herzog, brother of Israeli President Isaac Herzog, took office on Tuesday as Israeli new ambassador to Washington.
Michael Herzog landed in the United States last Friday and replaced Gilad Erdan who held the position in the past 11 months, while also being the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations.
Upon his inauguration, Herzog hosted the annual conference of the U.S. Consuls, which is held this year at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C., and will last for three days. "The United States is Israel's most important ally," the special relationship between the two countries is based on shared values and brave ties between the two peoples," Herzog said upon his entry into office.
