The NBA and its official Basketball Players' Association are now part of the growing chorus of American voices condemning the recent Hamas attack on Israel.
In an official statement, which was also shared on social media platforms, they said that they “mourn the horrific loss of life in Israel and condemn these acts of terrorism. We stand with the people of Israel and pray for peace for the entire region”.
Prior to this, NBA runner-up Miami Heat took a similar stance by posting a message in support of Israel. "The Miami HEAT stand with the people of Israel”, and “The Hamas attack of Israel sparked a day of senseless violence and hundreds of innocent lives lost."
The Dallas Mavericks also extended their support, stating that the team “stands with Israel and continue to pray for peace in our world”.
The Washington Wizards, a team that counts Israeli small forward Deni Avdija among its players, also displayed solidarity with Israel by posting a pro-Israel message in the official tweet from the team's account.
