Shas leader Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef lashed out at Yesh! chairman Gadi Eisenkot, warning against a government led by him: "If the left, Eisenkot and his friends ever come to power, woe to us. He was chief of staff, he made a rule in the army that male and female soldiers would be in a tank together. Woe to us. I was chief rabbi at the time, I explained to him the severity of the matter, he didn't even respond." Just two months ago, he said that Shas might support Eisenkot: "He is a good man, a warm Jew, loves Torah scholars." Recently, he was enlisted in the Shas campaign after reconciliation meetings with chairman Aryeh Deri.
