Former Fatah official Mohammad Dahlan referred to a report according to which he may serve as the head of security in the Gaza Strip "the day after" the war, saying that he "repeatedly refused to accept any security, government or administrative position in the Gaza Strip." According to Dahlan, "My colleagues and I intervene only to provide relief to our people." Dahlan emphasized that "ending the war is a top priority. We will not support any choice that was not reached based on Palestinian national understandings, which will restore the political system - along with an action plan that will end in an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital."
