Israel's population nears 10 million on eve of Rosh Hashanah

Israel’s population has reached nearly 10 million, according to data released by the Central Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday ahead of the Jewish New Year.
The report indicates that 78.6% of the population are Jewish and others (including non-Arab Christians, members of other religions, and those not classified by religion in the Interior Ministry), while 21.4% are Arabs. The figures also include the foreign worker population.
The Israeli population grew by approximately 118,000 people over the past year, reflecting a growth rate of 1.2%. In the past year, around 183,000 babies were born in Israel, and about 55,000 people passed away.
