UN human rights commissioner: Using hunger as method of warfare is war crime

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, addressed the UN IPC organization's report which determined that famine exists in Gaza City, claiming that "the appearance of famine in northern Gaza is a direct result of actions taken by the Israeli government." According to him, "Deaths from starvation may be considered a war crime. It is a war crime to use hunger as a method of warfare."
