Over 100 Hostage Family Members Demanded Gal Hirsch Not Be Selected: 'Deep Shock'

Minister Miri Regev decided that Hostages and Missing Persons Coordinator Gal Hirsch will light a torch, despite objections from over 100 families of hostages. Yifat Calderon, cousin of returned hostage Ofer Calderon, told Ynet following Hirsch's selection: 'Deep shock, he is the last person who deserves to light a torch.' She added: 'Someone who scolded the hostage families. He is Netanyahu's mouthpiece.' Freed captive Rom Braslavski said: 'I posted a story in which I claimed this is a spit in the face of me and the hostage families. I do not retract that statement.' Among the signatories: freed captives Arbel Yehud and Ditza Heiman; Carmit Palti Katzir, sister of Elad who was murdered in captivity; Ofri Bibas, Yifat Zailer, Lishi Lavia-Moran, Chen Avigdori, Mor Korngold, Merav Savirsky and Gil Dikman.
