WHO calls for release of detained employee in Gaza, IDF: 'Terror suspects detained'

|
The World Health Organization (WHO) called for the release of one of its employees detained by the IDF in the Gaza Strip, after claims emerged overnight that two of the organization's staff and two of their family members were detained by forces, handcuffed and stripped. "We do not know the reason for the detention of our staff member by the Israeli authorities," said a spokesperson for the organization. An IDF spokesperson addressed the issue, stating that "forces detained several suspects involved in terrorism. After field questioning, most were released and evacuated from the area." According to the spokesperson, "Sometimes during questioning there is a need for suspects to temporarily remove some clothing to ensure they are not hiding explosive belts or weapons."
