Expected: Tax exemption on products from abroad up to $150 to take effect January 1

|
The doubling of the amount allowed for personal import of products in packages from abroad from $75 to $150 is planned for January 1, 2026. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich officially announced his intention to double the exemption amount and has submitted it for a 21-day public comment period. The Federation of Chambers of Commerce and the Manufacturers Association strongly oppose doubling the amount and are even demanding the cancellation of all exemptions. If the Finance Minister decides to sign the order after the public comment period, they are expected to file a petition to the High Court of Justice to halt the move and suspend commerce.
