Moti Maman, who was convicted in the Beer Sheva District Court of contact with a foreign agent and entering an enemy state without permission and sentenced to 11 years in prison, has appealed to the Supreme Court. According to the appeal, "the lower court imposed an unprecedented and disproportionate sentence, unconditionally accepting the prosecution's position without substantively explaining why his punishment should be exceptional compared to all previous sentences." Maman (72) admitted to meeting with intelligence agents on Iranian soil who sought to recruit him to carry out operations against Israel.
