A reserve IDF officer was killed Friday night by friendly fire near the West Bank village of Immatin, the army disclosed on Saturday.
A preliminary investigation suggests that IDF soldiers, while engaged in operational activity, pursued suspects who had been throwing stones at a military vehicle. The soldiers identified a suspicious vehicle containing an armed individual and opened fire.
Meanwhile, an additional force responding to the incident arrived at the scene and appeared to have been hit by gunfire. The reserve officer—Capt. Yaakov Nadlin, 36, from Or Akiva—was fatally wounded, and an IDF soldier standing nearby sustained minor injuries.
